you REALLY wanted to find a man, go to alaska
I spent two years in Anchorage. There is a saying among the women in Alaska about the positive ratio of men to women. It is as follows: The odds are good, but the goods are odd.
can some one tell me how many brothers and how many sister there were in your cong.
or does any one know total world wide.

i was wondering about this the other day before i went to sleep, out of habit and my spiritual beliefs now, i spoke to the spiritual realm above and asked for guidance and protection.. i remember my journey of leaving the jw "borg" (a new term i have picked up here - i like it!
) and at first i refused to pray at all, and then i wasn't sure i wanted to or not, and then i developed my own sense of the higher power above and spirituality and every night before i sleep, i feel blessed to have another day of life, to do it all again.
even on days when i am not having such a good day, i take time to ask the higher realm for strength and direction.
Yes. My prayers are more heartfelt now, most likely because I don't feel so guilty about not being perfect that particular day.

-- Jehovah's Witnesses have the highest proportion of female adherents (68%), followed by Church of God (64%); the highest proportion of male adherents is among Muslims (62%) and Buddhists (61%).

for me it was bible reading, where you could express your own opinion, in line with present truth of course.. pre the change it was awful listening to some fool telling you his opinion of bible highlights.
The Watchtower. As a lowly female, it was one of the few places I could really express myself, at least until towards the end. After a while, the conductor refused to call upon me.
i've said a few times on here that i'm 99% mentally free of jwism, or something similar.
but i think i may need to back that number down just a bit.. i now believe that this world is all we've got and that, collectively, it matters what we as a species do on this orb if we want to continue to spread our dna indefinitely.
(some would argue that human extinction would be a good thing, but i'm not in that camp.
I've always been interested because it directly impacts my work.

i am inspired to start this thread because of something i read on another thread.. burn the ships says it doesn't matter if you are baptised by an athiest or an elder, as long as it's done the right way.. so, since every religion has their spin on "the right way".... what concrete example did jesus give in this ritual?.
can any of you find any actual description of jesus dunking someone in water to baptise them?.
all i find is that jesus "baptized" by giving words of instruction.. .
Justitia Themis... are we speaking about baptism as outer ritual or about baptism in the name of Father, Son and H. Spirit?
Please reference the title of this thread. Did Jesus baptize others? It is difficult to definitively prove one way or the other. Dunk or sprinkle? Most scholars seem to feel that the tradition was borrowed from paganism. There is no provision for conversion in the Old Testament. You either were or were not a Jew. Over time, Jewish worship morphed from a sacrifical cult to one wherein worship consisted of studying. At this time, there arose a provision for conversion: circumcision, immersion and sacrifice. Conversion meant that the convert denied all pagan gods, accepted the God of Israel and acknowledge the truth and binding authority of the Torah. What is not clear is whether the immersion was initiatory, purificatory or a hybrid. This is the ritual with which the Jews of Jesus' day were familiar. The fact that the Didache makes the provision (or exception) of sprinkling for those who lived in areas with little water gives weight to the thought that normally it was full-body immersion.
Words used? As far as I have read, and I could be wrong, I know only that Jesus said to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Baptism had long been a pagan rite.
thanks to scully, i have figured out where to put these letters so all that would like to access them and read them can do so.--just click on the link below.. don't expect a lot from the letters, as i am a brick mason and not the brightest bulb on the (new) christmas tree.. in my correspondence with the wt, i exerted all my effort to keep the discussion on just the un, even though i did have misgivings on other matters.
i thought if i was able to keep the discussion on just the un that it would prove to be more difficult for them to disfellowship me, as it was their conduct that i was opposing, conduct that violated their own teachings.. it worked to some extent, as they had to trump up charges on us that we started our own religion because we had the memorial celebration in 2006 with our family rather than at the kingdumb hall.
it was a real pleasure to be disfellowshipped for their sin.
Hello Brant! Long time no 'speak.' I hope you are doing well. BTW, regarding the shepherds...it will happen. :)
Your friend always,
Justy
this is my first post after many years of reading this site.
i am from the west midlands, england.
i was raised as a jw and got baptised aged 17, started "fading" whilst at university when i started to broaden my outlook and realised that all the so-called "worldly people" i had for so long been encouraged to avoid associating with were actually often open-minded, honest, generous and loyal people.
Welcome to the board!
